The Product Technical Specialist is responsible for leading the development and implementation of supply chain strategies. This position requires a results oriented, driven person able to successfully combine a savvy interpersonal style with strong business acumen. This position has responsibility for developing new materials, processes and client based solutions supporting both internal and external client requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: Develop and implement supply chain strategies that support company budget,quality, delivery, and cost reduction goals.
Manage supplier relationships, build effective partnerships, determine the need for new or improved materials and plan the development of the same. Provide supplier coaching as appropriate to improve overall supply chain and development effectiveness.
Evaluate supplier performance to improve product quality, performance,competitive pricing that meet or exceed supply chain effectiveness.
Ensure proper and timely orders and goods are received to support production activities and customer requirements.
Utilize root causal analysis on defective supplies to insure quick resolution of vendor quality problems and timely disposition of rejected material.
Proactively participate cross functionally to develop process and product improvements to satisfy customer demands. Lead efforts to identify and qualify alternative products that improve quality, reduce costs and/or bring new products to market. This includes working with the Commercial team, Customer Service, Project Management,Product
Management,Supply Chain and all Operations team members to guarantee effective commercialization.
Provide on-site client and remote site support as needed for development, commercialization, and client inquires.
Work closely with Customer Service,Graphic Arts,Finance and Operations for material setup, bills and routings and tooling requirements including creating and approving die specifications and designs.
Travel to remote production facilities, clients and suppliers is required at least
25% to 30% of the time.
Bachelor•s degree in business, marketing, supply chain or a related discipline from a 4- year college or university required; and a minimum five (5) years previous supply chain management/product improvement experience required,preferably in a multi-site manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have knowledge of either paper, laminates, pressure sensitive labels, or adhesives or similar types of materials .
Prior print industry experience preferred
MRP and ERP systems literacy knowledge is preferred. TCM (Workwise) experience highly desirable.
Must have strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Must have exceptional computer skills in MS Office (Word,Excel,Power Point and Outlook).
Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers,clients, and other associates.
