Position Summary:To increase sales by reviewing the existing program and proposing new strategies that will impact the financial wellbeing of the Retailer/Wholesaler and increase the penetration level of the store brand program. Review the Supplier goals in order to gain greatest sales potential.
Manage day-to-day business with Suppliers which could include evaluation of the base price structure and development of a list-cost structure; development of an accrual program and annual marketing program based on Retailer’s/Wholesaler’s promotional parameters and incremental vendor funding.
Review categories for potential new item opportunities then collaborate with Suppliers; present all products in an informative and professional manner; gain acceptance, merchandising support and maximum distribution of the product.
Research and qualify potential new Suppliers.
Negotiate brokerage rates (if no corporate contract is in place) with optimal highest rate achievable.
Review and interpret IRI and Nielsen market data.
Initiate the sales effort necessary at retail to support all sales programs; assist in the development of promotional plans.
Maintain and update information relating to product specifications; maintain price lists; understand freight rates and provide to traffic department.
Initiate label development forms for existing and new items; submit new item samples for quality assurance analysis.
Assist with and attend any Holiday and Food Show activities; visit retail store including competitive stores; participate in Supplier plant tours.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field and at least five years of sales experience in the grocery industry. Specifically we are wanting two individuals - one with HBC/GM experience and one with Deli/Bakery experience
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, as well as an exceptional ability to think strategically.
Good communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Excellent presentations skills.
